Friendly Curse 1.1

  • Scripting
    • PT-BR included: I want my family and friends to enjoy the gameplay, so I put in extra effort and translated all the dialogues. It can be selected by pressing LEFT or RIGHT on the title screen.
    • Reviewed and revised: All dialogues were reviewed and corrected. There were minor changes, but nothing that would change their meaning.

  • Graphical
    • New font: The new font is based on Comicoro. It's a 100% free font, and as the creator requested, it will be credited at the end of the game. I also implement two new font variants: Bold and Highlight. You'll notice them during the gameplay.
    • Refined title screen: Now it has a compact logo and a new menu. It changes depending on the language you choose before starting a new game.
    • Sprite update: I remembered I could overlay tiles to create a unique sprite only at the end of the Game Jam. With that refreshed information, I separated Dino's bag and eyes from the body and used a different OBJ color. It also happens to Bot, separating her sprite sheet from the Gamejoy.
    • Knock, knock: Dino received two new animation states: One for when he knocks on the house's door and one for when he gets scared by the Skeleton.
    • New Lady: I used the same sprite for Girl and Lady characters during the Game Jam. Now Lady has a unique sprite sheet.
    • New credits scene: Yes! Now we have a proper Credit Scene, where I mention the game's cast, those who help me, the engine, plugins, tools, and resources, and share a special thanks(English only for now).

  • Coding
    • Out of the way: Reduced the trigger area of the house's door from 4 to 2 tiles and added a new script that implement a knocking sound and moves Dino 2 tiles to the left. Now he won't stay in front of the residents during their dialogues.
    • Taking control: Fixed the bug where the player could bring the Inventory Screen during dialogues, canceling it and causing unexpected results.
    • Like a cat: Dino can walk on top of the stone fences! With that, he can reach some new areas.
    • Stay still: In the previous version, a player could activate a dialogue during the jump and leave the trigger area, messing around with the codes. On the update, when the player interacts with the trigger, his velocity is set to 0, and he changes direction to the NPC.
    • Knock, knock 2: The NPC's house doors will be closed when they are nowhere to be found. You can knock them and discover new dialogues.

What is next?

  • Study music and create something decent for the game.
  • Rework the Cauldron Scene to a more precise system.
  • Make a cleanable window (most requested feature).
  • Fix more bugs that I didn't detect in this version.
